11.12.20 Foster of the Month- Meet Lia

October 2020 Foster of the Month-

Meet Lia!

Where are you from and what do you do for a living?

We live in Burnsville; I am currently a medical coder and formerly a vet tech.

There are a lot of great rescues in MN, why did you start volunteering specifically for MPBR?

Pit Bulls have always had a special place in my heart, and they are often misunderstood. I wanted to be a part of finding them the right homes and representing them in a positive way

When your friends/family find out you volunteer with a pit bull rescue, what do they say or ask?

Something like “that’s awesome, I couldn’t do that” or “how do you not want to keep them all?”

How long have you been fostering with the rescue?

We just took in our first foster in October 2020.

Who was your first foster?

Noah, great dog & great first experience!

Brewsky & Naomi
Naomi

Are you currently fostering anyone right now?

Yes, Naomi is a 5-month-old pup who came to us very scared. We are still working on getting her ready for adoption.

Do you have any pets of your own?

Yes, Brewsky was our very first foster (fail) as a parvo puppy, he is about 5. The other dog in the picture is Daphne, she was 10 and passed away this year. I rescued her as a puppy. Both of our dogs were in our wedding in May!

How would your pets describe you?

Pretty boring for 8 hours of the day, ugh. A little smothering and needy sometimes, what’s with all the kisses? Stupid human who falls for throwing the ball once when she knows it’s a promise for at least an hour more, every time.

Where's your favorite dog-friendly place to bring your dog?

We use the Sidewalk Dog Brewery passes all year long and love to go to the dog friendly breweries, so many good ones but favorites include Bauhaus and Urban Growler

What are your hobbies?

Does going out to breweries with my friends and dogs count? Yes, yes it does.

Noah

Do you have a favorite memory that happened while you were fostering?

Just 2 fosters under our belt so far, but matching Noah with his new family and leaving him there feeling great about it was a very good moment!

Do you have any special tradition with each foster?

We have a cupcake bakery nearby, I get pupcakes for all the dogs involved (including ours).

..................................................................................................................................................

We are 100% volunteer based and we couldn’t do this without each and every one of our members

Each month an active volunteer is featured on our website & receives a gift (or gift card) as a thank you. This is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have for this rescue.
