8.20.20 Volunteer of the Month- Meet Joette

July 2020 Volunteer of the Month-

Meet Joette!

How did you find out about Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue?

From my daughter, Michelle Johnson, when she adopted my first grandpuppy, Viera, from the rescue.

Momo & Viera
Why did you start volunteering for MPBR?

My grandpuppies, Viera and MoMo (Modano) are from MPBR. I had time and I think the breed gets a really bad rap.

How long have you been volunteering with the rescue?

I think about 6 or 7 years.

What was the last thing you volunteered for?

I mostly do reference calls now. I have transported dogs, puppies, and supplies in the past. I have also worked at several adoption events.

Max ♥
Do you have any pets of your own?

Not at the moment. I lost my Max, a husky mix, to cancer about 2 months ago.

How would your pets describe you?

The crazy lady with all the treats.

Where's your favorite dog-friendly place to bring your dog?

My backyard or glamping at the North Shore.
When you're not surrounded by dogs, what can you be found doing?

Working at events as an EMT, cooking, or playing with my grandpuppies.

Do you have a favorite memory that happened while you were volunteering?

I help rescue a mama and all her puppies from a bad situation in Wilmer. That was my first actual rescue transport.

Do you have any advice for current or future volunteers?

Just jump in and to it! It feels so good to help get our dogs adopted and there are so many ways to help.

Do you want to give a shout out to anyone in the MPBR family?

Other than Laura for starting the rescue, there are just too many to mention.

............................................................................................................................................................

Each month an active volunteer is featured on our website & receives a gift (or gift card) as a thank you. This is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have for this rescue. We are 100% volunteer based and we couldn’t do this without each and every one of our members

8.19.20 New to MPBR - Meet Lars

New to MPBR- Meet Lars 💙

Lars & his sister, Sigrit, were found as strays in Dallas, TX. They were extremely malnourished, emaciated, and both had severe cases of mange. Unfortunately, Sigrit passed away shorty after being rescued; we will spare you the horrendous 'before' pictures. We're so happy to report Lars' skin condition has improved greatly and he has begun putting on weight. He has come so far already and we can't wait for this boy to find his forever home!

There is so much we could say about this boy but that would be quite lengthy. Please read his bio for more information and see more beautiful pictures of him here (if the link doesn't work his application is pending 🎉)

If you are interested in meeting Lars, please apply at www.mnpitbull.com

8.18.20 New to MPBR- Meet Trinity

Happy Tongue Out Tuesday from tripod, Trinity! (Talk about a tongue twister!)
I’m a very active little girl that’s 4 months old and despite losing my leg very young I’ve adapted very well. I have two speeds, “GoGoGo” and sleep. I am a very smart girl and I’m very food and treat motivated. I’ve learned to sit, I understand “no”, and my foster brother is teaching me how to walk nicely and how my kennel is ok. I only make noise in my kennel for a little bit then I settle in and quiet down and nap. I’m working on not crying and barking when my “person” is out of sight or out of reach if I’m on my tie out. My missing leg has not slowed me down as I can handle keeping up with my crazy foster brother. I love to wrestle and play tug. I really like bones and stuffy toys. I’m teaching my foster brother how to share. When I’m not playing, I am a cuddlebug and like to sleep. I’m getting better with my potty training, but I really really like water. I get excited when I first see you and I’m getting better about staying “down”. I haven’t really met any babies; I have met some little people that liked to pet me. I have a couple kitty friends that I’m not super interested in but sometimes I do try to play with but when they don’t want to, I can leave them alone.

See more pictures and a video of me here (if the link doesn’t work, my adoption is pending🙌🏻)
If you’d like to meet me, please apply at www.mnpitbull.com so my Case Manager can make arrangements. I’d love to meet you!

8.17.20 New to MPBR- Meet Ian

Hi, I’m Ian!
I am 10 weeks old and I’m a happy little puppy, my tail is always wagging.
I love to play with my two foster dog siblings (one male, one female) and then take a nap.
Potty training is going pretty well, I am a puppy after-all.
Foster dad gets me outside and I know it’s time to do my business.
I haven’t met any cats or kids, but I would imagine I’d do well with either as I’m young and can learn how to be respectful.
I do really well in my crate. My foster dad reports that I go in and don’t even make a peep!
I’ve been on a couple car rides and have done well with those too!

You can see more pictures of me here (my adoption is pending if the link doesn't work)

Please visit www.mnpitbull.com to fill out an adoption application if you’d like to meet me. I promise you won’t regret it!

8.12.20 A Hot Tip!

New faces will be added to our website soon 🐾

With that being said, we know it’s hard to adopt a dog right now. The folks over at Sidewalk Dog Media did an excellent write up that includes some great tips that we wanted to share with you. We’re huge fans of #1!

Whether you’re adopting from our rescue or another (aren’t there so many great ones in Minnesota?) we hope thinking long term is top of mind. What will your schedule look like when things are “back to normal”, whenever that might be? Either way, we’ll be here when you’re ready to meet your new BFF 🐶

8.10.20 Great News!

Look who has officially found her forever home!

Congratulations to Domina & her new family 💚

A special thanks to RR Professional Dog Training & Boarding for all of the training you did with Domina. It's because of your hard work that she was able to find her new home and we are so appreciative!
