2.28.19 Featured Foster February Edition

Meet Oneka!

Athena
Who was your first foster?

My first foster was Athena.

Who is your current foster?

Sasha is my current foster pup.

Why did you start volunteering?

I started fostering with MN Pit Bull because unfortunately I didn't like the organization I was with at the time. A friend of mine knew this and asked what I thought of pit bulls. I told her I thought they were great dogs. She gave me the name and phone number of another friend of hers that is a volunteer with MPBR. I called her up and set up a home visit. The rest is history!  I have been with MPBR ever since and love volunteering with them. They are a great organization. Everyone is so helpful and kind.

Sasha & Enapay

How long have you been volunteering with our rescue?

I have been with the rescue for a year and a half.

Do you have any pets?

I have one dog.  Her name is Enapay.  She is a boxer/whippet mix.

Where is your favorite dog friendly place to take your pooches?

Runnings, Petsmart and Home Depot.

When not surrounded by dogs – what can you be found doing?

Reading, hanging out with my nephews, neighbors, and friends, or volunteering within my community.

Pria
Do you have a favorite memory with one of your fosters?

Do I only have to pick one?  The most recent memory - Pria.  Her furever family came over to visit her at my house.  My sister and I were telling the family that Pria will give hugs if she likes you.  By giving hugs, she will crawl into your lap, put both paws on each shoulder and then her head on a shoulder.  As this was being explained, Pria did just that to her furever mom.  It was a very sweet moment.  Needless to say, Pria and her furever family are very happy.

Do you have a special ritual you do with your fosters at all?

I go out and buy them a new bone, toy or item of clothing - one that they can take with them to their furever family.  Once the foster pup goes to their furever home, I then take my dog and let her pick out a new toy or bone.

2.25.19 Business Bark Out - Max & Neo

Items we've received from Max & Neo
February 25, 2019 | by Corey Lundgren (Bark Out Editor & Photographer)

Welcome to our 8th annual Business Bark Out! Today we’re featuring Max and Neo Dog Gear! Max & Neo isn't just your typical dog gear. Behind the scenes they are helping rescues like ours each & every day. We have been lucky to receive several donations from them in the past like collars, leashes, toys, and bathing supplies.

The Owner & Founder, Kenric Hwang, named the business after his dog Neo and his brother's dog Max. When Neo passed away, Kenric realized he was unable to get another dog due to the amount of traveling he did, so he decided to start fostering from a local rescue in Arizona. While volunteering for the rescue, he quickly realized how much money and supplies were needed. Here's where the idea for Max & Neo the company was born. Instead of just asking for donations like normal, Kenric came up with the idea that for every item sold, Max & Neo would also donate the same item to a rescue in need. That means if you buy a collar, a rescue is getting a collar donated as well! In 2018 alone, Max & Neo donated 138,000 items to over 2,200 rescues. That was over 70,000 dog leashes and over 55,000 collars! If you’re in the market for high quality dog supplies & are wanting to help animals in need, please check them out!

If you or someone you know is interested in partnering with us, or they have a love for pitties & support the breed in some way, please email our Event/ Social Media Coordinator- Ashley@mnpitbull.com. Thank you for taking the time to read this, stay tuned for more … coming every Monday!
Thank you!

2.19.19 Hello from Ted

Hi, my name is Ted and I love the snow ❄️

I am 4 ½ years old and am a stunning brindle male
shepherd mix. I am tall and weigh 85 lbs.

I like to be active and play and take walks. But also like my time to be lazy and relaxed.

I am very smart and know sit, down, wait, come, shake, high five and speak. I am learning roll over, wait in my kennel and taking treats very gently.

2.18.19 Business Bark Out- 10K Brewing

February 18, 2019 | by Corey Lundgren (Bark Out Editor & Photographer)

Buisness Barkout, Volume 7 features 10K Brewing located in Anoka, Mn! 10K has hosted Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue multiple times for our adoption events and our pups and volunteers have been extremely grateful. Check out some pictures below from our last event. We’re happy to report all of these pups have been adopted!

Frisco enjoyed all the pets
10K is dog friendly year round inside their taproom (as long as your fur babies are respectable), kid friendly anytime before 10pm, and they have plenty of non alcoholic beverages too. They have a small patio out front that you can also enjoy during the warmer months. Although they don’t sell food themselves (except for a few snacks), they do share a building with MaGillycuddy's, which has free delivery for 10K’s customers. If you’re ever looking for somewhere to go in Downtown Anoka, we highly suggest giving 10K a go. They have great beers and a great atmosphere.

Anastasia LOVED 10K

Aris hardly remembers 10K...

If you or someone you know is interested in partnering with us, or they have a love for pitties & support the breed in some way, please email our Event/ Social Media Coordinator- Ashley@mnpitbull.com. We’d love to give them a feature on our page! Thank you for taking the time to read this, stay tuned for more … coming every Monday!

2.14.19 Meet Angelica

Angelica says “foster mom, stop working & come play with me!”
How can you say no to that sweet face? Information for adopting Angelica can be found at www.mnpitbull.com

Name: Angelica

Nicknames: Angel, Jelly Belly

Age: 2 years (as of 1/19/19)

Activity Level: Low/Medium

Things I do in my free time: SNUGGLE! It's my favorite thing in the world! If that's not an option, I like to chew on toys and I just found a ball that makes these funny noises! So weird!

Things I know: My name, sit, kennel

Things I am learning: Down, shake, off

Kids: Unsure, but I think ok

Dogs: Meh, I could take them or leave them. I'd much rather be with people!

Cats: No problem! Size: Small, about 25 lbs.

Car rides: Great! But I may want to sit in someone's lap, even if that's the driver!

Additional Info from foster parent: Angel is true to her name! She is a total shadow and will follow you wherever you go. She has found her favorite spot when I'm working from home is under my desk. She still has some trust issues and it breaks my heart that she flinches sometimes when I reach out to pet her, but we'll get there! I'm learning more about her personality every day!
