7.29.20 New to MPBR- Meet Lyra

Hello! My name is Lyra

My foster Mommy tells me that I’m a smart and confident puppy. I already know sit and I haven’t had a potty accident in the house yet! We’re working on learning my name, go potty (while outside) and kennel up. I don’t really like my kennel because I’d prefer to follow my foster Mommy everywhere. I’ll go in there for a yummy treat though. I love kids and other dogs. My big foster sister Pia is teaching me how to play with other dogs with respect. Sometimes I can be a bit rough but I’m learning quickly. I enjoy exploring through tall ferns, chewing on sticks, and cuddling; cuddling is the best! Please will you adopt me? I promise I’ll do my best to be the best puppy ever!

Here's a little bit about my background: I came to MPBR by way of Texas. We are known as the 'Constellations Litter'. There are five puppies in total, 2 boys and 3 girls. We were born on 5/07/2020.

If you’re interested in taking me home & teaching me all the fun things a dog should know, please fill out an adoption application at www.mnpitbull.com.

7.28.20 Volunteer of the Month- Meet Heather

June 2020 Volunteer of the Month-

Meet Heather!

How did you find out about Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue?

I found out about Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue through a friend who was adopting a puppy several years ago

How long have you been volunteering with the rescue?

In 2017 I started volunteering with MBPR by helping at adoption events and doing transports.

Willie
What was the last thing you volunteered for?

The last thing I volunteered for was helping with a transport for Willie.

Jack
Do you have any pets of your own?

I adopted Jackson Boudreaux in December of 2017.

How would your pets describe you?

Decidedly Undecided.

Where's your favorite dog-friendly place to bring your dog?

Jack and I love to hike at state parks and any place that takes us near the water. Jack also had a lot of fun learning agility with some of his rescue buddies.

When you're not surrounded by dogs, what can you be found doing?

I like to travel, hike, and eat food.

Do you have any advice for current or future volunteers?

I'd encourage future volunteers to just go for it! Big or small there's an opportunity for you, do what you can when you can and give back in small ways. Jack has a lot of fun being an ambassador at MPBR's Pride Booth where he gets to meet all the humans, dogs, ferrets and Furries.

............................................................................................................................................................

Each month an active volunteer is featured on our website & receives a gift (or gift card) as a thank you. This is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have for this rescue. We are 100% volunteer based and we couldn’t do this without each and every one of our members

7.26.20 Support Sunday

We have the greatest supporters ever!

7.25.20 New to MPBR- Meet the Honey Litter

Linden, Palmetto, and Tupelo make up our Honey Litter 🍯

*Update- Adoption Pending* Linden is still searching for her new home. She is 12 weeks old and enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings when she’s not napping. Are you up for some puppy adventures? Apply at www.mnpitbull.com 🐾
Palmetto has been adopted & Tupelo is pending. Most dogs in our rescue are receiving multiple applications right now. One question we’ve seen across the board is “what can I do to make sure I get to adopt the dog I’ve applied for?” Since we match best fit for each dog, this can be tough to answer. One thing you could think of is to become a foster. Many people go into our foster program with the intention of finding their perfect match. When your foster application is submitted, our team will work one on one with you to find out what you’re looking for. Our foster parents have first say on whether they’d like to adopt or if they’d like to accept applications from the public for their foster. To learn more about this option, please go to www.mnpitbull.com/foster or drop your question below and we’ll try our best to answer it ❤️

7.18.20 Help Kaisa Find Her Home

Help Kaisa
The last time we posted Kaisa was back in May. She was facing euthanasia as her adopted family could no longer keep her safe and we did not have an available foster home for her. When we posted her, it was shared thousands of times and we received numerous emails of interest from those wanting to save her by way of adoption. However, all these responses were from people who already had dogs in their home or had other variables that didn’t blend well with her needs.
We did not feel comfortable placing her with another dog until we had her evaluated by a professional trainer to really know what her dog to dog tolerance level was. We wanted to make sure her next home was her last home, and that everyone was set up for success.
Kaisa has now been with the trainer since May 21 and while she has done great with obedience training, living with another dog is not in her future.
We have spent over $2,000 dollars in training costs (and continue to spend money every day she is there) to make sure she is the best dog she can be for her new family. We’ve done our part, now we need YOU to step up and give Kaisa a home that will keep her safe, trained, and loved.

-Kaisa is on a daily medication for anxiety that is 10 cents per pill (about $6 a month)
-she can not live with dogs
-she can not live with cats
-she will clear a 6ft fence without a problem
-she has lived with children previously without issue however, opening/closing doors that lead to the outside world could be problematic as she could escape
It is time for Kaisa to stop living in a kennel and start living in a home. Are you willing to share your home with her?
There are many ways you can help Kaisa:
🐾Adopt: apply at www.mnpitbull.com
⭐️Donate to her board/train costs here
⭐️Know of someone who seems like they'd be a good fit? Send them our way!

7.17.20 New to MPBR- Meet Amber

Hi there, I'm Amber and I'm new here!
I came to Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue by way of Texas (shout out to Passport For Paws). If you remember reading about Tai, Dionne, or Cher, then you've met my kids! Don't you think they got their adorable looks from me? I certainly do! Anyway, I can't wait to find my forever home too, just like my puppies did.
I have spurts of energy at times, but I really like to relax and hang out with my foster mom (I excel at cuddling). I am very shy and can be startled easily. My foster family is trying to help me gain confidence. I would probably be best suited in a home without really little kids. Their activity level and loud voices startle me.
I am a small dog (I’ve been called a ‘pocket pittie’) and I am easily walked. I do not tug or pull when I am on my leash and when you tell me to, I will slow down if I am going too fast.

I have a foster dog brother who I like but he gets rowdy so you can often find me doing my own thing. I love to chew on a pig's ear!
I have not been around cats in my foster house, but they do have a Winter Hamster that I just can’t figure out. How does she get into that ball and go so fast? She scares me when she heads towards me. EEEK!!!
If you’re interested in taking me home & teaching me all the fun things a dog should know, please fill out an adoption application at www.mnpitbull.com.

7.16.20 Adopt Chula

Miss Chula coming to politely ask for pets all the time. She loves being around her people 💙 This is a normal scene in her foster home 🥰

We are still exploring some medical issues with Chula. Ideally, we would like to see Chula go into a retirement/hospice home to relax and feel loved during her final days whether this means days/months/years (we hope years). Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue will be in continued communication with her Adopter regarding her health plan and will cover the cost of said plan until further notice.

Read more & view additional pictures of Chula here

If you'd like to meet Chula to see if you're a good match, please apply at www.mnpitbull.com so we can arrange a private meeting.

7.15.20 New to MPBR- Meet Palmetto

Hi! My name is Palmetto aka Metto/Little Guy.
I arrived in Minnesota by way of Texas & I'm 10 weeks old.
I’m a tiny puppy with a big personality. I’d love to be the big boss dog with my foster sister — the only thing stopping me is my smaller size. My foster parents (fo-rents) say I’m a typical puppy with bursts of energy and then a nap. I’m doing really well with potty training. It might take me awhile to finally go when I get outside but I’m catching on. My fo-rents said I’m doing great with my kennel. I’m sleeping in it at night next to fo-sister’s kennel in the living room and only whine a little at first. I even take naps and breaks in it throughout the day. I’ve been told I’m much better with kenneling during the day than my fo-sister.
What else:I love chewing on things (apparently some of those are not for me including the humans fingers and ears). I love going outside and laying in the grass. Sometimes I chew on my toys and sometimes I just fall asleep.
My fo-rents say I am a confident and curious little guy that makes the cutest little grunt sounds when you pick me up!
If you’re interested in taking me home & teaching me all the fun things a dog should know, please fill out an adoption application at www.mnpitbull.com or read more about me.

7.14.20 New to MPBR- Meet Alexa

*Adoption Pending* Hello my name is Alexa
I’m 10 weeks old. I came to Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue by way of Texas with my brother, Echo (adopted). We are known as the ‘Amazon’ litter.
I love to be the center of attention with every adult, child and dog around. I haven’t met any cats yet but I’m sure I’d love to try to play with them too. I have a lot of energy to burn off but also love to cuddle up in your lap when I’m sleepy.
I am still working I’m not jumping, not chewing on everything I can find, and not having accidents in the house. I’m not a big fan of my kennel yet and will whine hoping to get out. Eventually I’ll give up and take a nap. I do well in car rides as they put me right to sleep.
If you’re interested in taking me home & teaching me all the fun things a dog should know, please fill out an adoption application at www.mnpitbull.com.

7.13.20 New to MPBR- Meet Bart

Hi! My name is Bart
I know what you are thinking, and no, you won’t find ears like this anywhere else. These ears are all natural! I am 4 months old. I’m a dog with many nicknames. I’ve had a few temporary housing arrangements, not because I did anything wrong, just a few pit stops on the way to my foster home. People called me lots of things like Sixx, Birch, and Barty Boy. I don’t care what anyone calls me. I’m just happy to be around my people.
I have loved every four-legged dog foster sibling I have met. Sometimes they have been a little grumpy and don’t like me bouncing on them. They tell me to stop and I apologize with kisses. I’m pretty charming that way. They always forgive me. I have not met any cats and I have not lived in a home with children. I have met some children and I love them but need reminders to be gentle with them.
I’m a very happy dog. I can be a little shy at first. I enjoy cuddling I’m the couch once I’ve played with a few toys. I would make an excellent addition to any family, but I think I would really enjoy having another sibling to play with.
If you think you are the right family for me, contact my rescue to set up a time to see these ears in person! Do so by filling out an adoption application at www.mnpitbull.com.
