4.16.20 New to MPBR- Meet Francis

Meet Francis

***************************************************

Name: Francis

Nickname(s): Mama Bear, Frankie, Franklin the Tanklin

Age: Approximately 5yrs old

Gender: Female

Weight: 60lbs

Dog friendly: Yes, with dogs of similar temperament

Cat friendly: No

Kid friendly: Yes, can be clumsy and jumpy for younger kids.

House Trained: Yes

Crate Trained: No, trained to a single room.

Energy level: Medium

Things I know: She needs to play tug of war at least once a day and would also love a daily walk. She likes car rides and to sit outside in the sun warming her fur. She is both surprisingly agile and typically clumsy for her size. She can jump a normal height baby gate from a standstill but will also run into a wall when doing zoomies. She loves her humans and wiggles her whole body when she's excited. She loves to sit behind you in your chair when you have to focus on something else. She collects bone banks but will share if others want to. She is very intelligent, she learned to nose open the baby gate handle recently. Its easiest to make her drop a toy by covering her eyes. She sometimes fakes being asleep by snoring with her eyes open when she knows you want to relax but she still has energy. She is a stocky stubborn girl but loves treats and responds to training well.

From the Current Owner additional info: My husband and I adore this dog. If she could be in a home with cats we wouldn’t be giving her up for anything. We found her in the alley behind our house as a stray last March (2019) emaciated and with a bad ear infection. She has since fully healed and bulked up to a healthy weight. We would greatly appreciate if any potential adopters would be willing to keep in contact with us to set up play dates with her current doggy sister and for us to offer any other tips tricks and advice we can about Frankie. Thank you for considering her for your home.
If you'd like to meet Frankie, please fill out an adoption form at www.mnpitbull.com so we can schedule a Meet & Greet ๐Ÿพ

4.15.20 New to MPBR- Meet Stanley

๐ŸพThere's a new face at MPBR, meet Stanley๐Ÿพ

This 4 year old is looking for someone that can spend time training him, take him for walks, and give him the attention he deserves. He's good with dogs, cats, & kids.

He has shown signs of food aggression while with other dogs. His new owner will need to work with him on this behavior so someone who is knowledgeable is a plus!

Please see his bio below & apply at www.mnpitbull.com if you'd like to meet Stanley

Meet Stanley

Nickname(s): Stan

Age: DOB Approx. 4 years old 9/10/2015

Gender: Male

Weight: 67 pounds

Dog friendly: He loves doggie play dates, great with small dogs. Gets SUPER excited when he gets to meet other dogs. He is food aggressive with dogs.

Cat friendly: has only been around them a few times but is very gentle.

Kid friendly: Very kid friendly! Grew up around small kids and loves the attention.

House Trained: Yes

Crate Trained: No

Energy level: High! He loves his down time, but when it’s time to go for a walk or play he is ready to go!

Things I know: how to sit, lay down, stay (when we are alone) shake, down and kiss.

Things I am learning: walking nicely on a leash, stay and drop when playing fetch.

From the Current Owner additional info: Stanley is the most lovable dog. He is always smiling and will do anything to please you. About a year ago, we thought he tore his ACL, but the vet said his knees pop in and out which causes Stanley to limp after vigorous activity or big jumps. We had him on bed rest for awhile and slowly started walking him again. Trust me, this does not slow him down, but you will know when he needs the rest. Stanley needs someone who can spend time training him, taking him for walks, and giving him the attention he deserves. He will sleep under the covers with you, love you, protect you, and never leave your side. Stanley needs to be snuggled and loved. It fuels him. We just want Stanley to have a chance at the life he truly deserves.

4.9.20 Volunteer of the Month- Meet Stacy

March 2020 Volunteer of the Month-

Meet Stacy!

How did you find out about Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue?

I think I found them on Facebook.

Louise when we adopted her
Why did you decide to volunteer for MPBR?

After we adopted Louise (part of the Texas 8 litter, always named Louise) we wanted to help where we could.

How long have you been volunteering with the rescue?

I believe it’s been around 3 years now.

What was the last thing you volunteered for?

The last thing I volunteered for was some home checks.

Home checks are the best & so important- it's the last part of the adoption process to make sure the family is ready for their new dog.

Juniper & Louise
Do you have any pets of your own?

Two dogs, both MPBR Alumni members, Louise & Juniper.

How would your pets describe you?

A total pushover.

When you're not surrounded by dogs, what can you be found doing?

Reading or knitting- I’m a nerd!

Do you have a favorite memory that happened while you were volunteering?

Juniper when we adopted her
Meeting Juniper for the first time. We were fostering her & she was one of the 3 sisters in the litter who all had mange. Juniper was a tiny, stinky little thing and we loved her from the very start. We’re totally foster fails!

Do you have any advice for current or future volunteers?

Fostering isn’t the only help the rescue needs! If you can’t foster, you can still help!

............................................................................................................................................................

Each month an active volunteer is featured on our website & receives a gift card as a thank you. This is just a small way for us to show our appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have for this rescue. We are 100% volunteer based and we couldn’t do this without each and every one of our members
