4.3.19 Featured Foster- March Edition

Meet Angela!

Sigmund & Viera
Who was your first foster?

My husband Steve and I dipped our toes in the water by temp fostering Viera back in 2011. Attached is a picture of how she got on with our cat Sigmund. Viera was adopted by fantastic folks who also volunteer and have fostered for the rescue. MPBR has an awesome alumni and volunteer network!!

Who is your current foster?

We are currently fostering a dog in MPBR's respite program- a resource for folks who need a temporary safe spot for their dog.

Edith
Ethel
Why did you start volunteering?

We have a special spot in our hearts for the senior dogs who come through the program. Here are pictures of Ethel and Edith, both seniors we had the pleasure of fostering/adopting!

How long have you been volunteering with our rescue?

Zeus
Since 2010.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, an awesome pit bull mix named Zeus (my best friend) and two crazy cats.

Where is your favorite dog friendly place to take your doggo?

The farmer's market near our home!

When not surrounded by dogs – what can you be found doing?

We like our dogs with us all of the time! We limit time away from our pups to work hours or when we go on trips requiring air travel.

Do you have a favorite memory with one of your fosters?

Adoption days are always fantastic! We also had the pleasure of watching one of our former fosters while her parents were at the hospital having their first human baby. We got to be present for the introduction to her new little brother. It was truly beautiful to see the reunion and the love mom and dad had for their first dog baby and their new baby boy!!

Do you have a special ritual you do with your fosters at all?

We like to take some time to celebrate Zeus and give him some special time alone. We are so lucky to have a dog with such a great personality who has been a foster brother to 15-20 dogs (I have lost count)!

BarkBox is a subscription service that is awesome for you dogs! You get toys & treats delivered right to your door every month!

Each month one of our foster pawrents receives a BarkBox as a thank you. This is our small way of showing appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have to this rescue. Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue is 100% volunteer based-no shelters here! Each dog we are able to save is because a foster is willing to open their home for us
