* New to Rescue * New to Rescue * New to Rescue *

Nicknames: Boba, Bubba, Bubs

Age: 4 months (as of 4/13/18)

Activity Level: hyper & playful, as I am still a puppy.

Things I do in my free time: I love snuggles after play time, and give lots of kisses. I like to play with my sister and foster sisters. We play tug-o-war and keep away. I can’t get enough of cow hooves. I can chew those for hours...

Things I know: I’m getting really good at “Sit”, & I come every time my foster mom calls for me. I know what “no” means too.

Things I am learning: kennel and I will wait patiently for my food. I also have not had an accident in the house. *paws crossed*

Kids: I haven’t met any yet, but so far I love everybody.

Dogs: I get along with other dogs both puppies and adults.

Cats: Unknown

Size: I am the biggest of my siblings. I’ll probably be around 50lbs. when I get bigger.

Car rides: I eased my brother & sister when we went for a ride to our Foster Mommy’s. They were scared but it just made me a bit sleepy.

Additional Info from foster parent: Boba aims to please and has been very good in his kennel. He is a quick learner and is easily motivated by food. He is a little talkative during play time but quiet as a peep during nap time.

4.27.18 Featured Foster- April Edition

Meet Ann!

Nova
Who was your first foster?
Nova
Opal

Who is your current foster?
Opal

Why did you start volunteering?
Nick and I adopted our own pup, Benny, from MPBR in May of 2015. We really appreciated the time and care they spent in finding the right home for the right dog.  They sent out the call that they were looking for people to foster.  We had an overnight trial run with a dog, and since then we’ve been helping out where we can!

How long have you been volunteering with our rescue?
2 years

Benny

Do you have any pets?
Benny and Peach (the cat)

Peaches
Where is your favorite dog friendly place to take your pooches?
Rosedale Mall on Sunday mornings and any dog-friendly brewery in the area!  Love to show off great manners!

When not surrounded by dogs – what can you be found doing?
Playing video games, reading, or knitting. (Usually still surrounded by at least one dog.)

Do you have a favorite memory with one of your fosters?
Too many to count!  The one that first popped in to my head is when our first foster Nova found her forever home.  I was with her at an adoption event at For Pet’s Sake up in Blaine.  There were a number of people coming over and meeting her, no big deal.  It wasn’t until she met James that she just completely hammed it up, rolling over on his lap until he rubbed her belly!  That's when I knew she found the right fit!

Do you have a special ritual for your fosters?
I’m thinking of making a Wall of Fame with pictures of all the dogs that come visit and get adopted!
................................................................................................................................................................

BarkBox is a subscription service that is awesome for you dogs! You get toys & treats delivered right to your door every month!

Each month one of our foster pawrents receives a BarkBox as a thank you. This is our small way of showing appreciation for the dedication our volunteers have to this rescue. Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue is 100% volunteer based-no shelters here! Each dog we are able to save is because a foster is willing to open their home for us

She sleeps well in her crate overnight without hardly any peeps and can make it through the day/night with no accidents. 4.18.18 Meet Opal

* NEW TO RESCUE* NEW TO RESCUE * NEW TO RESCUE * NEW TO RESCUE *

Everyone, Meet Opal:

Nicknames: Pretty girl
Age: 8 months (as of 04/12/18)
Activity Level: Medium
Things I do in my free time: SNUGGLE! Chew on toys and find things to carry around.
Things I know: House-trained, sit
Things I am learning: My name, perfecting sit, down.
Kids: unknown
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Size: 30 lbs
Car rides: Great!
Additional Info from foster parent: Opal is an absolute gem! She came to us a little unsure, but with each passing day her personality is showing more and more! She is doing wonderfully learning her name & runs to us each time we call her! When she first got here she was extremely fearful of her kennel, crying if the door was closed for any length of time. She has quickly learned that kennel=food! She is one smart cookie! She wants to be friends with the resident cat (who doesn’t really like dogs) but figured out that the cat needs space and gives it! She is a total goof in that she loves to smell hair! She is still skittish on walks and a little hand shy, but with time I think she will be a fabulous addition to any family!
**Visit Opal this Sunday, 4/22, from 1-3 at our adoption meet & greet. Info here!**

4.17.18 Adoption Update

These puppies will forever be known as the "Montevideo litter". Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue received a call asking to help with a litter of 8 puppies that were living in a less than stellar environment. The pups were all in one small kennel, standing in their own filth with no food or clean water. The images were one of the hardest things we've ever had to see. Luckily, the Montevideo Police Department stepped in to rescue these pups just in time. Even in these circumstances, all 8 puppies were happy and ready to give out kisses. We are beyond thrilled that we have an update of all 8 dogs, just in time to celebrate the week of their 3rd birthday! (click here to see the before pictures in a great story done by The Dodo)

Thank you so much for saving this amazing litter of puppies. Without your kindness, I would have never met my best friend. The world needs more people like you willing to serve, protect, and save not only people, but animals too. I am so grateful that Stella and her siblings were saved from such a horrible situation. I worry what would have happened if your team would not have found them in time. Because of you, Stella and her siblings no longer have to worry about being neglected. Stella is one of them most loved dogs I’ve ever met. She is truly a member of our family. Thank you!

Best part of owning a pit bull? Their unconditional love. My favorite is when we take him out in public & have people comment on how well behaved his is. I love being able to change someone’s mind about the breed & to have the ability to show them that they are a loving, happy, beautiful breed.

 This or that

  •          Toys or treats? Both....but she only gets the toy thing with actual interaction since she’s a wrecker and likes to destroy just about every toy she touches
  •           Sleep or play? Both again but often times is dependent upon me and what I’m/we’re doing
  •           Bossy or baby? She likes to play the field in both directions here
  •           Snuggle or personal bubble? No doubt on this one, snuggle ALL the way...it’s very rare that you’ll find her not touching you when you’re on the couch/in bed
  •           Blankets – over or under? Mostly over but I think it’s because she hasn’t quite grasped the concept of the under yet

Spread the love
Is there anything you’d like to say to the Montevideo Police Department? Thank you, THANK YOU for taking this part of your job seriously! You go above and beyond to begin every day with the work you do and I couldn’t be happier that you took it upon yourselves to check in on these guys!!

Silas

Silas has been with us since the day MN Pit Bull Rescue picked up the whole brood. He came to us through Perfect Paws, the groomer/ boarder that was holding the pups for the Montevideo Police. I had euthanized my 14 year old pibble, Lincoln, a few months earlier so several town members knew that my heart was broken and informed me of this litter. I showed up at 7:30 in the morning, unannounced, on the day that MPBR was to arrive and knocked on the door. No answer but I heard some ruckus in the yard so I yelled over the 8 foot wooden fence that I knew they were in there and I needed to see these pups! With some communication back and forth between Perfect Paws and MPBR, it was agreed that I could pick a pup as long as it was a boy as I had female Blue Heelers on my farm. Silas was goofy and confident and I knew he was going to fit in great with my kids (who had no idea this was going on).

I worked for the school so I went to teach summer school and picked Silas up that day after school. When I came to get him, I saw the MPBR group in the room with the rest of the pups. It was sooooo sweeet..

Silas loves to travel. He swims in mountains lakes and rivers. He sleeps in tents and rides shotgun all over the country. I love that he adores my kids and they adore him. My kids have never not had a pit bull in their life. Azure is 12 so Silas is his 3rd pit, Aurelia is 10 and Silas is her 2nd pit and Esme is 5 and Silas is her 2nd pit. Esme and Silas have been together since she was 2 years old and he just months old. Pit Bull personalities and desire for family is their best quality. They are able to adapt to anything.

This or that
  •        Sun or snow? Sun
  •          Toys or treats? Treats
  •           Sleep or play? Toss up
  •           Bossy or baby? Baby (except to our kittens, then bossy)
  •           Snuggle or personal bubble? Snuggle & all 70lbs of him
  •           Blankets – over or under? Over
