6.25.19 Hi from Clover

Hi, my name is Clover and I want to be your friend!

I’m a 5 month old little cutie who loves naps, belly rubs, and of course TOYS! I came to the rescue with a large mass on my neck that was removed. My fur is still growing back but soon you won’t be able to tell at all. If you’d like to meet me to see if we’re a good fit, please head to www.mnpitbull.com.

If you can’t adopt but want to help, you can donate toward my vet bills 🐾 the rescue would really appreciate it! You can also read more here:

6.24.19 Business Bark Out- Loon & Beau

May 24, 2019 | by Corey Lundgren (Bark Out Editor & Photographer)

This Monday’s Business Bark Out is for a company that I personally love, Loon and Beau! Loon and Beau is a local business that makes high quality bandanas and bow ties for your furry family members. Founded in the fall of 2018, owner Danica noticed that there was a lack of higher quality bandanas and bow ties in the market, but the demand was there. Danica was introduced to the rescue during the Animal Humane Society’s Walk for Animals where she had a booth. It was later that we found out her older sister has adopted a dog from us! Danica has two of her own pups and also fosters with another local organization.

If you have been watching our page lately you would have noticed some special bandanas with both the Loon and Beau and Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue logo on them. Also, if you visited our booth at #PRIDE this past weekend you would have seen them in person (they’re amazing). Loon and Beau wanted to collaborate with our rescue and has offered to donate a percentage of every sale on these custom items back to our rescue! Follow her page for new releases or to order your very own and check out her booth out at our 10 Year Anniversary Party on July 21st where she'll have even more designs available! Details on our party here.

Do you have love for pitties or support the breed in some way? We'd love to give you your very own Bark Out, please email our Event/Social Media Coordinator at Ashley@mnpitbull.com.

6.23.19 Ted

“This is fostering - loving a dog as your own until their person finds them. Ted is the biggest challenge I've faced with a foster dog, and he's also the most rewarding. Watching him adapt to our routines and learning to share attention with another dog has been amazing.” -Ted’s foster mom.

Her words are perfect. Ted is not a dog for the “average” person. He will require structure, exercise, and ongoing training, but we know there is someone out there for him. We will stand by his side until that day comes 🐾

6.17.19 Business Bark Out- Headflyer Brewing

May 17, 2019 | by Corey Lundgren (Bark Out Editor)

Todays Business Bark Out is featuring HeadFlyer Brewing! Located at 861 E. Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis, Headflyer has a great building with a super convenient parking lot attached so finding parking is a breeze. Headflyer was founded in 2017 by Neil Miller, Amy Miller, Nate Larson, and Austin Lee they had a vision of a taproom that provides a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment which they nailed perfectly.

MPBR Alumni Member, Beau, enjoying Headflyer with his humans

Headflyer hosted MPBR last year for an adoption event in which we were able to bring some of our adoptable dogs and hang out on the patio with them. They were so accommodating; making sure that our pups had everything they needed.

Headflyer is dog friendly year round so it’s a great place to stop in the cooler months (take advantage of the indoor fireplace). They’re also kid friendly. Whether you’re meeting friends to play some board games, challenging someone on their giant, handmade cribbage table, or hanging with your best fur friend, this is a great place to relax and have a cold one.

Do you have love for pitties or support the breed in some way? We'd love to give you your very own Bark Out, please email our Event/Social Media Coordinator at Ashley@mnpitbull.com.

6.15.19 Hi from Clover

Hi all, I’m Clover! I was born 1/15/19, so that makes me about 5 months old. Don’t fret about my funny haircut and stitches, I had a lump removed (Dr said maybe a foreign body or vaccine reaction), but I am healing and feeling super! I just arrived in MN so foster mom will update this as my personality shines through.
I can tell you that foster mom is very proud with how potty training is going - no accidents so far! I am great being kenneled on road trips and during bedtime. Baths aren’t so bad either. I have almost mastered sit and am working on “off” and “no bite”(apparently these puppy traits are not ok as I get older). I am not possessive of toys or food and am not sensitive to being touched anywhere.
My favorite things include toys, belly rubs, naps, and being near my people. I really like my foster brother - he is 15, drops all kinds of crumbs, and smells interesting. I also like my foster fur-sister but she is smaller than me and doesn’t appreciate my puppy-ways all the time. I am not as hyper as some pups my age. Foster mom cradles me on her lap and rubs my belly - oh I like that!
Please apply if you’d like to meet me, or better yet, add me to your family! I am a happy and sweet girl just needing love.

6.13.19 Donny's Story

This sweet boy is Donny.

He came to us through a local shelter as a stray. After a medical exam it was determined there were multiple issues preventing Donny from being able to live a fulfilling and happy life. He went through his first surgery that would help correct these issues and, it is with a very heavy heart, we are sad to say he passed peacefully in his sleep shortly after. We are thankful he was in a home that showered him with love, both from humans and four-legged friends. He was so incredibly loved.

Although Donny is no longer with us, unfortunately his medical bills are. This is the very worst part about being a rescue. If you are able, could you please help? https://www.givemn.org/story/B5n3zf

Run free, sweet Donald. May you have an endless amount of tennis balls to play with.

6.10.19 Business Bark Out- Bahaus Brew Labs

May 10, 2019 | by Corey Lundgren (Bark Out Editor)

Our 21st Business Bark Out is featuring a local favorite, Bauhaus Brew Labs. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, Bauhaus is a great spot to stop whether you're riding solo or have a whole pack of friends with you. Rain or snow won't spoil your plans either, Bauhaus is dog friendly indoors & out all year round- your furry loved ones are bound to enjoy this place!

Bauhaus Brew Labs
Awhile back Bauhaus Brew Labs hosted Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue for one of our Adoption Meet & Greets. The event was a huge success. All of the puppies (anyone remember Rosie, Louie, Sadie, & Nettie?) were adopted right away. The Star Tribune even showed up to feature the rescue! Bauhaus has a great atmosphere, a perfect beer selection (try the Uber-Duber, you won't be sorry), and usually have a food truck onsite. They often host live music, trivia, motorcycle shows, and art shows. Plus, they're celebrating their 5 year anniversary next month so you know they'll have something special going on! Check out their Facebook page for more info or stop in and see why they're one of the best breweries in NE!
