9.4.19 September Dog of the Month- Hera

September Dog of the Month

It's September meaning there's a new Dog of the Month at MPBR! Her name is Hera and she's such a beautiful girl!

What exactly does 'Dog of the Month' mean, though?

Every month, Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue recognizes one dog that has been in our program a little longer than others to be listed as the Dog of the Month. Not much is different other than their adoption fee is waived. That means the normal adoption process is still followed- references checks, a home check, and training at a facility of the adopters choosing is still required.

Meet Hera

Name:  Hera

Age: Approximately 6 years old

Activity Level: I'm a pretty relaxed, easy going girl but I have my moments as there are zoomies on a daily occurrence around my foster mom's house for no real reason other than I can be goofy for a minute or two.

Things I do in my free time:  Toys don't excite me that much, I'm really into humans! I like following you around, relaxing at your feet, sitting in your lap, or following around kids. Dogs are pretty fun too but I prefer the human interactions.

Things I know: My name, sit.

Things I'm working on: Down and solidifying my name and sit as well as walking nicely on a leash and maintaining my sit/down.

Kids: Good- I've met several kids! They like me, I like them, we have a good thing going here.

Dogs:  I'm very intrigued by other dogs and can get really excited when we first meet. I like to play for a little bit and then go off and do my own thing.

Cats:  It would be best if I were in a home WITHOUT cats. If they run I will chase them and I’m a fairly large gal. IF I were in a home with cats, my owner would have to be SUPER committed to keeping us separate or always watching what’s happening which is why it’s best for me to be in a home by myself or with other dogs only.

Size: 65 lbs lap dog!

Car rides:  Great! I do better in the car if I'm just by myself in the back seat. If I'm kenneled I can whine. I like to see where we are going.

Additional Info from foster parent: Hera may be built like a brick but don't let that fool you, she is a sensitive gal. She absolutely loves to be around people. If you're going to be sitting on the ground, expect to have Hera in your lap pretty quickly. She does great meeting people at all of our adoption events are do well in a home with kids or just people. She can get along with other dogs but would be perfectly fine as the only animal in the house too. She loves to sit on the deck outside and just watch as the world goes by. Hera is kennel trained and needs an enclosed plastic crate, she does not like wire crates. Please check out www.mnpitbull.com for adoption information if you'd like to meet Hera!
