Ryker
Who is your current foster?
Datto
Why did you start volunteering?
The first dog I ever truly fell in love with was my cousin's pittie pup over 10 years ago. She changed our lives. Ever since then I have had a sweet spot for these breeds. I started following the organization many years ago and Chad and I adopted our dog, Chico from MPBR in March 2016. Shortly after adopting him I joined the volunteer group, started helping with transports, got to know the other volunteers through events and training, and began fostering that fall. It has been one of the best decisions of my life! MPBR truly cares about the dogs in the program and ensures the dogs are set up for success when they go to their new homes.
How long have you been volunteering with our rescue?
2 years
Do you have any pets?
Yes, Chico - MPBR Alum
MPBR Alumni Member- Chico |
Where is your favorite dog friendly place to take your pooches?
Agility class, Home Depot, Crosslake and The Wharf in the summers
Not surrounded by dogs? That's just silly! Seems like the only time I'm not by dogs is when I'm working! (We've been known to sneak a few pups in though from time to time...)

Do you have a favorite memory with one of your fosters?
I don't think I can choose just one... Learning Ryker's leg wouldn't need surgery, getting weight on Nova and bringing her to the lake for the first time, Ruby loving up on the kids in her new family, Charlie becoming stronger each day, Vinca's snuggles, Quest's eyes, Datto's ears. They have all been so special.
Do you have a special ritual for your fosters?
We usually send one of their favorite toys with them to their new families and I have started gathering pictures for a collage to hang in my office or the dog room.
